MR900422613At the moment in Australia we are experiencing extremely high temperatures as the bushfire season well and truly begins. Sadly, in the last 48 hours the beautiful island of Tasmania has had 80 or more homes lost and thousands evacuated.  It was the hottest day in Hobart for 130 years when the fire started.

Fires continue to burn around Australia this morning. This map shows the current fires and also has emergency information. The heatwave is expected to continue for a few more days.  . I think most Australians are holding their breath and hoping we do not see another loss of life as we did with the 2009 Victorian bushfires..

Try Hard Frugalista has written here  about  spending the night on the beach.

It’s made me think about how prepared our paperwork is if we had to grab it and leave. I really need to update it and thats going on my To Do list this month. Is your paperwork prepared for an emergency? There are no fires close to where we are at the moment but the temperatures here have been 38 – 39 degrees and the air conditioner is getting a workout.

We had our honeymoon in Tasmania and have holidayed there twice, it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. I’m sending out my thoughts and hope for safety to my Tasmanian readers, I hope this passes soon. xx

  1. I read about this on the news today. So sad… Hope all stays well in your corner! It’s minus 22 celcius here right now with the wind chill…

  2. It is amazing how opposite the world hemispheres are. I’m watching the snow fall onto Canada’s already deeply covered ground. I would love to send some of this humidity in the form of rain your way! Stay safe.

I was reviewing your grocery challenge. I love the idea! Today is the first grocery shop of the year for my household. I really need to make a long term goal for this. You are amazing

    thnx :)
yes, it is just stinking hot here today 41 degrees C, funny to think of the other side of the world all trying to manage the cold temps and snowstorms.

I am finding that doing this grocery challenge is making us think about every single cent we spend, it’s just too easy to spend a few dollars here and there which really adds up to quite a lot over time.
